Yes it is possible if you score in the GATE exam in Material Science or other related fields like Biotech, Chemical Engineering and so on, you can apply for M.Tech in Material Science at IIT Bombay even if you have done your B.Tech in Biotechnology. Hi,

The IES exam offers various engineering branches, and you'll need to opt the one that is most closely related to Production Engineering background. The closest options would be Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering probably, based on the specific courses you've taken in your degree.

Other than that, you'll also need to fulfill some basic eligibility criteria by the UPSC, that conducts the IES exam. These criteria are being an India citizen, having a minimum educational qualification, and being within the specified age limit.
