Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology (also known as RGIT) is one of the premier educational institutions in Mumbai, established under Manjara Charitable Trust in 1992. It is affiliated to the University of Mumbai and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. The institute offers UG courses in five disciplines for a duration of four years and PG courses in MMS, MTech and MCA for a duration of two years. It also offers research programmes in five major disciplines of Engineering with a total intake of 50 candidates. Three of its undergraduate programmes are also accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA).

Admissions to this college are done only through offline mode for all the courses. Application forms for the admissions can be obtained from the Institute office by paying a nominal amount. The college follows a system of Centralized Admission Procedure (CAP) in which 20% of Total Engineering Seats are under Management Quota and the rest 10% are under Minority Quota.

RGIT scholarships are listed in detail below:

1. Minorities Development Department of Government of Maharashtra

It offers a scholarship amount of Rs25,000 for economically weaker and meritorious students belonging to Buddhist, Christian, Parsi, Jain, Muslim, Sikh, and Jews or any other minority communities.

Eligibility

  • Students should be Domicile of Maharashtra State and should have passed Class 10 from Maharashtra State.
  • The total annual income of the family should not be more than 6 lakh

2. Fee Waiver Scheme

For this scheme, full tuition fees are waived for the students of the SC/ST/VJ/NT/SBC category and 50% of tuition fees for the students belonging to OBC category.

Eligibility

  • If a student fails in a particular academic year, he will no longer get the benefit of this scheme.
  • The total annual income of the family should not be more than 6 lakh.

3. Maha DBT Scholarship

This scholarship is offered by the Maharashtra State Government. Scholarship amount varies with the type of scholarship and category of student. All eligible applicants will receive scholarships directly in their Aadhaar linked Bank Account in two instalments.

Eligibility:

  • Annual income of parents/guardians must be less than or equal to Rs 2,50,000.
  • Student must be of SC or Navbouddha category

Placements: In my college, about 30-40% of students get placement. About 20% of students opt for higher studies, and the remaining seek of job. Companies like Infosys, TCS, L&T and Mahindra visit our college for placements. The salary package offered ranges from 3-4 LPA. The highest salary package offered ranges from 14-17 LPA, but only a few students are able to get that.

Placements: Most of the companies coming for placements are IT Companies. The highest salary package offered is 8.4 LPA, the lowest salary package offered is 1.20 LPA, and the average salary package offered is 5 LPA. Placements: College gives best placements every year. Many MNCs are coming for recruitment and give decent packages to students. Placements: Placements are provided only in the field of IT, and not enough core recruiters visit our college for placements.
