To get admission in NIT Rourkela, For General candidates to qualify for admissions to NITs/IIITs/GFTIs, they should have secured at least 75% marks in class 12th exam or be in the top 20 percentile in class 12th exam conducted by the respective boards. For SC/ST candidates, the eligibility criteria is 65% marks in class 12th.The Home State: Rank - 16679 And Other State: Rank - 12898 for mechanical engineering.
The placement of the mechanical branch is quite good at NIT Rourkela. Core companies like Tata steel, Vedanta, Tata motors, Maruti - Suzuki, Mahindra & Mahindra and many more visit our campus every year and recruit meritorious students as Graduate engineer Trainees. Sometimes PSUs also come NIT Rourkela because it is one of the top NITs. Fortunately last year Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) visited our campus. Average package of core company is more than 8 LPA.
Since core companies are limited in number and select few students only, so many other students have to go for analytics, consultancy and IT sectors. A number of students get placed in TCS,Mu Sigma,Infosys etc every year. As far as job is concerned, almost every sincere students of ME branch get placed on campus ,whatever be the companies. Package offered by these companies are not so high but satisfactory.

Both Food processing and industrial design are different. So it solely depend on you that if you are interested to know the techniques behind food processing as well as gain knowledge for it then just move on for food processing engineering in NIT Rourkela. It is a new branch started in NIT Rourkela and very soon it has gained tremendous popularity in the mean time. It has hold a good placement record instead of a new branch. The placements of NIT Rourkela is good. The average placement of the college is around 6-7 LPA. Mostly, all the student got placed. Last year, the highest package was 29 LPA which is offered by Amazon. Many core and analytical company visit every year. Around 90-100% of the students got placed. In NITJ, placements of Industrial and Production is comparable to mechanical, which is pretty good. Lot of good MNCs come to NITJ for recruitment. Usually number of offers are higher than number of students. And given a choice in between NIT Rourkela and Jalandhar, Rourkela has got better ranking, hence should be preferred. Well, for getting admission into the college NIT Rourkela, you need to qualify class 12 board exam and the JEE Mains exam. Based on your score and rank you can apply for any branch of your interest in NIT Rourkela. NIT Rourkela is ranked 15th by NIRF in 2018. The placement is also good over here. Many companies visit here like ABB , Amazon ,amdocs, Aricent, CapGemini, Cummins, Del,l Ericsson India, Essar Cellular, Future Group, Futures, First Goldman Sachs, Hindustan Unilever, HP ,IBM, Infosys, L T Lafarge, Microsoft, Musigma Patni, Pepsi, Reliance, SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC, Wipro etc visit the campus and recruits many students.

As you scored 53% and you belong to SC background you can get admission in any of the colleges. But it is difficult for getting admission into NITs and IITs. as per new rule , the new eligibility criteria for getting admission in NIT is having minimum 75% in board 12th exam and the merit of this year is expected above 150 marks in JEE; for General students.For SC/ST candidates, the eligibility criteria is 65% marks in class 12th. So its quite difficult to get admission in NIT. But there are many other colleges with similar rankings where you can get admission very easily. So there is lot of opportunity where you can excel in your life. Just study hard and fulfill your dreams. You can get admission in colleges like Birla institute of technology and science, Anna university, Alliance College of Engineering and Design, Alliance University, Anekal, Bangalore, Vellore institute of technology, college of engineering, pune etc

All the NITs are equally good and holds a good placement record as well. NIT Rourkela is good enough for Computer Science and engineering. It has a good infrastructure, and good faculty members as well. It holds a good placement record. The companies like Dell, Microsoft, SAP Labs, Direct, PwC India, Goldman Sachs, HP, NCR Corporation, Oracle Apps, Cloud, Financial Services, Samsung, Ericsson So placement wise its good that's the only thing that matters in the end and academics wise it completely depends on you. The average package is around 7-8 LPA. The highest package is around 11-12 LPA which can also increase more. In NIT Allahabad the average package is around 8 LPA ; NIT Kurukshetra also has average package of 7-8 LPA. NIT Jaipur also has average package of 7-8LPA. The highest package of all is 12 LPA, it increases to more also depending on the company which visit. Hence All the college of NIT is good enough. NIT Rourkela has been ranked as 15th by NIRF in 2018. All the best for future. Thank you
