Mechanical is a better branch than electrical in terms of opportunities and placements. If you don't have any special interest in any of these go with mechanical.

Mechanical engineering is one of the oldest and reputed courses of Thapar University. It is ABET accredited which adds a great deal to its value. Overall, this university ranks amongst top 20 engineering colleges in India with placements better than many NITs.

Mechanical engineering will be smooth for you if you had an interest in the Newtonian Physics in your high school. However, electrical engineering asks for a lot more efforts. Personally, in terms of ease I would go with mechanical.
Also, mechanical engineering from Thapar has a lot more value in terms of placements and opportunities compared to Electrical. If you have choices then go with mechanical.

Thapar University does not offer B.Tech but offers BE and by B.Tech ME I assume you are talking about B.E. mechanical engineering (B.E. MEE).
It is one of the best and oldest departments of Thapar University with very good placements and curriculum. I think you should go for it.

You should go with mechanical from PU as it has good placements as compared with production engineering.
But UCOE DEPT is in Panjabi University, Patiala, you should definitely go with production engineering in GNDEC.

Mukundhan, LPU is going to offer you quality education at a very nominal fee as compared to any US university. Also, the university will offer you good placements after successful completion of your degree. The university leaves no stone unturned to shape the future of its students. It is definitely the first choice of both national and international students.
