No, MMU is a public research university that first opened in 1824, in Manchester. Its Business School started in 2012. In 2023, the institute opened a new state-of-the-art building for its Faculty of Science and Engineering. The university plans to invest into STEM education and research and wishes to align its research with the industrial strategy followed in UK. Overall speaking, Manchester Metropolitan University is a decent choice for students who wish to study in the UK.

Over 2,700 international students from 130 countries constitute the international community at Manchester Metropolitan University. When we look at the breakdown of Manchester Metropolitan University students on the basis of their domicile, we find that 31,810 students belong to England, 145 students belong to Scotland, 775 students belong to Wales, 345 students belong to Northern Ireland, and 80 students were classified as other-UK. When we look at non-UK students, we find that 795 belong to European Union and 1,995 belong to non-European Union countries, thereby taking the total non-UK student number to 2,785.

In order to apply for an undergraduate course at Manchester Metropolitan University, students need to fulfill the following entry requirements:

  • Standard XII with a good percentage

  • IELTS with at least 6.0 overall and at least 5.5 in each section
