For BTech CSE, I would choose Thapar over LPU if you get CSE at Thapar and can comfortably afford it. Thapar has the stronger engineering reputation and generally better peer group and placement outcomes.
For scholarships, LPU is clearly more generous and easier to access: its 2026 CSE scholarships can reach 50% through LPUNEST, with additional scholarship routes based on academic performance. Thapar's major 2026 merit scholarships are more competitive and primarily tied to JEE Main rank, with tuition-fee waivers for selected students.
So: Thapar = better CSE choice. LPU = better scholarship opportunities.

If you have a significantly better college option, choose it over LPU. Otherwise, LPU CSE is a reasonable choice, especially with a good scholarship. Don't reject LPU based on rumours; judge it by your actual alternatives, fees and placement outcomes.

For the latest 2026 information, Galgotias University lists 60% minimum in Class 12 for B.Tech CSE (Computer Network & Cyber Security). JEE Main/Advanced, CUET, or SAT scores are given preference in the merit list.
