It is true that BCA does not hold that much value as compared to B.Tech CSE or IT. But, BCA is a course which is for commerce and arts stream students or even for Science stream students who didn't performed well in their +2 and wants to build a career in IT. It is also true that if you have a BCA degree and absolutely no or little knowledge in programming, you probably will not be securing any job offers. In BCA you have to put in your extra efforts in learning and mastering the skills in programming. Just having the degree will not yield much. NIT MCA Common Entrance Test, commonly known as NIMCET is the national level entrance exam conducted every year by one of the National Institutes of Technology (NITs). Admissions take place on merit basis to Master of Computer Applications MCA programme across the NITs located in Agartala, Allahabad, Kurukshetra, Calicut, Raipur, Warangal, Surathkal, Durgapur, Trichy, Jamshedpur, Bhopal and Kurukshetra. Eligibility criteria B.Sc. / B.Sc. (Hons) / BCA / BIT of minimum three years with Maths or Statistics or B.E. / B.Tech Students who have studied B.Sc. / B.Sc. (Hons)/BCA/ BIT of 3 years from Open Universities which are recognized are also eligible. The required passing percentage is 60% for General and OBCs, while 55% for SC/ST candidates. The registration process of NIMCET is starts in the month of March every year.
