Why does one do Ph.D? It's fundamental to satisfy an urge to do some research in one's chosen field. You are also enriching knowledge besides perhaps opening doors for newer technology.

As such IIMs, do not provide specialization in any subject, but yes, if you wish you can choose your own electives of IT in 2nd year. But, at the end of the day, you will get the same degree as any other IIM grad I.e. PGDM (no specialization).
