Diploma in Construction Technology (DCT) is a Diploma level architecture course. The programme prepares students to enter the administrative and middle management levels of the building construction industry. It is designed to give students a basic understanding of the overall building construction industry. On the job training is an integral part of the programme. They learn how to produce a quality assurance plan and a site-specific safety strategy for a construction project. They gain an understanding of the principles and processes of construction site management and survey requirements for the set-out of a commercial building. The fiveyear undergraduate (UG) program in Construction Technology at CEPT University is a unique engineering program focused on creative problem-solving and technological innovation in construction. It is situated within an ecosystem of allied disciplines like architecture, planning and management all of which focus on built environments. It is the only construction technology program in India that is centered on studio teaching. Small groups of students engage with real-life problems under the guidance of studio tutors. The five-year program leads to a degree of Bachelor of Construction Technology. The program provides fundamental education in building construction and opens up many avenues for students to pursue postgraduate and doctoral studies. For further studies, a construction engineer might further hone his/her skill by focusing on construction engineering, structural design, infrastructure design, or shift to allied professions such as urban planning, management, etc. Several graduate students undertake higher studies at some of the best universities in the world. Though, below are the official guidelines for the Bachelor in Construction Technology.
1) Bachelors in Construction Technology (BCT) Course, candidates who have cleared the qualifying examination from an eligible Board from the school located in India (Including Gujarat State) with minimum eligibility criteria as prescribed by AICTE/Council from time to time and have appeared in JEE (Main) of the corresponding year.
As per AICTE, for admission to Bachelors in Construction Technology program a candidate should have,
Passed 10+2 examination with Physics/ Mathematics / Chemistry/ Computer Science/Electronics/Information Technology/ Biology/Informatics Practices/ Biotechnology/ Technical Vocational subject/ Agriculture/ Engineering Graphics/ Business Studies/ Entrepreneurship (Any of the three). Obtained at least 45% marks in the above subjects taken together.
2) Candidates who have cleared the qualifying examination from schools located outside India with minimum eligibility criteria as prescribed by AICTE/Council from time to time, and equivalency defined by Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi shall be eligible for admission.
3) The candidate shall have to pass all the subjects of the qualifying examination from a single Board.
