B.E./B. Tech admission selection criteria will have candidates achieving 50% marks (45% for BC/BCM, 40% for MBC/DNC/SC/ST) in 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Maths from a recognised board. Mostly admissions are done through Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) counseling based on 10+2 merit conducted by Anna University.

The students need to submit the TNEA application form (which will be released on 01 May 2025) along with the mark sheets and remit an application fee of INR 500-1000.

Candidates must have completed 10+2 with at least 50% aggregate (45% for reserved categories) in mathematics, physics and chemistry in order to be considered for a B.E. or B.Tech programme at CIET, Coimbatore. TNEA counseling is the main method of admission which is determined by TNEA rank and grades from the 12th grade. There is no admission exam needed for the selection process which takes into account the TNEA rank list. There are management quota seats available but they require a direct application and come with higher costs. Candidates with appropriate studies from the vocational stream are also eligible.
