To get admission into the BTech course at HIMT Chennai, IMUCET scores are compulsory. The college only offers one specialisation in the BTech course, i.e., Marine Engineering, and the college is affiliated with the Indian Maritime University. Thus, for marine courses, IMU only accepts relevant IMU CET scores, and HIMT Chennai follows the rules and regulations for the BTech course according to the affiliating university.

There are several exams for B.Tech course. But to get into top engineering colleges in B.Tech like IIITs, NITS, BITS etc. you have to appear for JEE main which is conducted by NTA if you cleared JEE main you can now move to the next step which is JEE advanced. BITS conducts BITSAT exam for B.Tech also. VIT conducts VITEEE entrance exam. These are tough exams which requires hardwork and consistency.

Yes, you can get admission without JEE Main. Here's how:
- DBGI accepts UPCET/UPSEE (Uttar Pradesh state entrance) scores for B.E./B.Tech.
- If seats remain after the state quota, management quota admissions are also available based on 10+2 marks.
- You can secure admission via UPCET or directly 10+2 merit through management quota.
