Criminology is the branch of Science which deals with the crime and the prevention of crime. Forensic Science is only the part of criminology. Criminology is directly referring to the crime. It is one of the challenging fields. The courses in the field of criminology are offered in range of certificate to doctoral level programmes as per the following:

The candidates must write the UPSC exams which are every year. There are two types of posts under CID, they are:
1. Constable post.
2. Sub Inspector post and higher officer posts. The Eligibility details of the constable post are as follows:
* Candidates must have completed 10th or 12th with atleast 55% to 60% of marks. * Must have 18 years of Age. * Maximum 30 years of age for General category students. The eligibility criteria for admission to B.A. Criminology and Police Administration are as follows:
All those who have qualified their 10+2 or equivalent examination with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks and above in any relevant stream from a recognised university are eligible for admission. Some of the colleges may conduct their own written tests and interview for selection of candidates.
