No, Environmental Studies is not a mandatory subject in CUET. Candidates can select up to 5 subjects from the available 37 CUET UG subjects. If a candidate's desired course at target university requires CUET EVS subject as mapping, he/she must select CUET Environmental Studies in their subject combination.

Yes, the National Testing Agency designs the CUET EVS question paper majorly on the basis of NCERT books from Class 11 & 12. Candidates who have the concept knowledge and have studied from the NCERT can easily attempt questions.

I wrote both JEE and neet. so with my experience, Let me give you this details:
NEET Eligibility
The age of the candidate must be 17 years as of December 31 of the admission year. Candidates must have completed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as core subjects, securing 50% marks for general, 40% for OBC/SC/ST, and 45% for PwD candidates.
CUET Eligibility
Age has not been declared. The minimum qualification required for the students should be 10+2 or equivalent from any recognised board. The eligibility for the particular course depends on the university and their requirements.
