The two pre-approved entrance exams for postgraduate study are the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET PG) and the All India Post Graduate Dental Entrance Examination (AIPGDEE). The university accepts USPNEE scores exceeding 300 points from 1200 possible and USIPGDEE scores surpassing 400 points from 600 offerings. Based on the DY Patil Dental College MDS cut-off for the last round of admissions in 2024, MDS in Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge turned out to be the most difficult to secure admission to. During the last round, the cut-off rank at which the admission for Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge closed at was 4,131 for the General (AIQ) candidates. For the same category, MDS in Oral Medicine and Radiology turned out to be the least competitive specialisation, with a closing rank of 13,904.
