As per information given in the NID admission handbooks, overseas candidates cannot apply for admission to GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, and ST seats. Such candidates can't also apply for age-relaxation, scribe, etc.

Also, the fee structure for overseas category is different.

Yes, under unforeseen circumstances, the National Institute of Design reserves the right to change the nature and structure of the NID exam. This means all tests can be conducted online or offline, or a combination of online and offline, depending on how the National Institute of Design deems it fit.

So, the candidate is urged to keep looking up this space for all the latest on the NID 2026 exam.

In the event of any ineligibility being detected by NIFT /NTA at any stage of the NIFT admission process, the candidature of the candidate will be cancelled. Further, legal action also may be initiated. NTA will not verify the information provided by the candidates during online registration and hence candidature will be purely provisional subject to the fulfillment of eligibility criteria.

The role of the NTA is confined to registration of candidates and the conduct of the NIFT 2026 exam. The finalization of NIFT 2026 answer keys after inviting challenges, processing and declaration of results and preparation of the list of qualified candidates will be done by NTA in collaboration with the National Institute of Fashion Technology.

Note that the NIFT answer key will only be released for the GAT paper. No key will be released for the offline-based GAT paper.

Design Aptitude Test (DAT) is one of the most important Design entrance exams. It is administered by the renowned National Institute of Design (NID). Several colleges accept NID Entrance Exam Scores for BDes & MDes Courses. Design aptitude tests (DAT) are important because they offer insightful information about a person's capacity for creative thinking and problem-solving.

Though there are no set guidelines for DAT preparation, focusing on one's creative abilities, imagination, sketching, and observational skills will help the candidates clear this section. Students can learn more about DAT preparation here.
