Well, yes. You need to pay an application fee for Product Design admission, which needs to be submitted along with the duly filled application form to confirm your form submission status. The application fee is somewhere between INR 1,500 and INR 3,000, which differs on the basis of the college and the course level.

You can check the official college websites for a detailed overview of the Product Design fee structure that includes everything from the college application fee to all the miscellaneous charges.

The time required to prepare for Product Design entrance exams differs based on the specific exam you're preparing for taking into account its competitiveness and difficulty level. It is better to start your preparation as early as possible at least 6 to 8 months before the entrance exam is tentatively scheduled to take place. This gives you enough time to cover the entire syllabus, have a look at previous years' question papers, and plan a revision in the last 1-2 months.

If you belong to any of the reserved categories like the SC/ST/OBC/PwD you will likely get a marks relaxation in the aggregate eligibility percentage for admission to Graphic Designing courses. For example, if general category students need 50 to 60% for admission, you will be eligible with a lower percentage.

The relaxation can go up to the extent of 5% but differs based on individual college or institute guidelines. So you should go to the official college websites to have an idea of their specific mark relaxation policies.

For BDes admissions, you have both options available: merit- and entrance based entry. Most of the top design institutes give admission on the basis of relevant entrance exam scores like NIFT Entrance Exam, NID DAT, UCEED, CUET, etc. along with PI and portfolio submission rounds. You will also find many design colleges that offer admission solely on the basis of Class 12 merit.

To be on the safer side you should always check the respective college website for their specific admission requirements for BDes courses.
