The Open University system is more learner-oriented and the learner is an active participant in the pedagogical (teaching and learning) process. Most of the instructions are imparted through distance education methodology as per the requirement. The University follows a multimedia approach to instruction.

Yes, RBU offers 11 programmes in distance learning mode from its Salt Lake campus. These programmes are offered under the Directorate of Distance Education (DDE) and are recognised by the Distance Education Council (DEC). In addition to this, candidates can also seek admission to distance programmes offered at RBU Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE). There is no age bar for admission to distance courses and the courses offered through distance mode are MSW and MA in 10 different specialisations.

The university offering distance education must be approved by UGC and DEB.In addition to that for specific courses like PGDM /technical courses, it may be approved by AICTE.
