Talking about the Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering in Heritage Institute of Technology, the total students in this branch are about 60. Companies like Tata Consultancy Services (TCS ), Wipro, Infosys, etc., recruit students and that too in mass. The average placement is 3.75-4.00 LPA. Some CS students get placements for 8-10 LPA as well. One got a package of 22 LPA last year.
Students from Applied Electronics and Instrumentation (AEI) branch also get placements in these IT companies. But the core companies for AEI that visit the campus are very few. If we talk about the faculty members here, they are quite good. Some are Ph.D holders and some have the experience of more than 18 years.
To get placed in core companies, the students too need to work hard. Since, HITK is a private college, it is obvious that not many companies will visit. There have been many advancements in electronics field but the job opportunities in the core field are limited.
Nowadays, most of the ECE engineers are being recruited for IT roles rather than core jobs. If you want to get a job in the core field you have to be extra-ordinary in both academics and extra-curriculars, then only you can stand out from the crowd. For getting into best companies first try to get into well reputed institutes like IITs, NITs, BITS and other CFTIs. Have a decent CGPA of at least 8.5+. For core jobs I would suggest to have 9+ to be on a safer side. You can increase your employ-ability by doing Post Graduation in one of the branches of ECE. You can appear for GATE if you want to do your PG in India or GRE if you want to study abroad. You should have proper understanding of fundamentals of all subjects and try to specialize in one of them. Generally the career opportunities for ECE are in-

Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering (DSCE), is part of the Gargantuan Dayanand Sagar Institutions (DSI) campus which spreads over acres of land and is home to several other sister institutes. The quality of teaching is fairly good. Recently the college had received the NAAC grading A. It's an autonomous college, so the syllabus in Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, [DSCE] Bangalore is updated regularly.
Overall, about 70% of the students get placed, most of them in Infosys and Accenture, two major recruiters here. Computers Science and Information Science sections record 100% placements with ECE, EEE & Telecom the following suit. I suggest you look for other factors like proximity to the main city, attendance issues, campus fests, campus crowd, etc. because it is not only your education in terms of academics but also 4 precious years of your life, don't miss out on the fun and learning. In the end, no matter where you study from, the placements are all the same until and unless you go out of your way to take up new courses, which will ensure you get into good companies.
