Hi.

Yes, if you are qualified under Chandigarh University (CU), and you meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply for specialised CSE‑branches like Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (AI & ML), Data Science, or Cyber Security — even as a “JEE‑qualified” (or JEE‑appeared) student. But a few caveats apply.

What CU offers — these specialisations exist

CU lists B.E. / B.Tech (Hons) programmes in CSE with specialisations in AI & ML, Data Science, Cyber Security (among others) under its “specialized‑programs / IBM‑collaborated courses.”

On their website, CU's eligibility criteria for these specialisations r

Hi.

Main route: CUCET (Chandigarh University Common Entrance Test)

CU's own entrance exam — CUCET — is the standard and primary gateway for undergraduate admissions (including engineering) at CU.

All candidates (unless exempted) must register for CUCET, fill application form, pay the required fee, and appear for the test.

Based on CUCET performance (merit list), seat allotment / counselling / admission happens.

Eligibility Criteria (for B.Tech / B.E.)

You must have passed Class 12 (10+2) with Physics + Mathematics as compulsory, along with at least one of Chemistry / Biotechnology / Computer Science / Biology / IT / s

Hi.

Yes — for admission to B.Tech/B.E. at Chandigarh University (CU), there is a requirement on your 12th‑class marks (along with other eligibility conditions), even if you're using your JEE Main score.

What's required from 12th (or equivalent) at CU

You must have passed 10+2 (or equivalent) from a recognised board with Physics and Mathematics.

For many B.Tech courses at CU, including those that accept JEE Main or CU's entrance (CUCET), the minimum aggregate requirement in 12th is around 50% (for general or merit‑based eligibility) as a baseline.

Some sources show that for “full eligibility” (especially for certa

Hi.

Potential to get into top NITs, IIITs, or IITs if you significantly improve your rank. This could mean:

Higher-quality education

Better exposure to cutting-edge research and faculty

Higher-paying placements and stronger alumni network

Eligibility for JEE-based scholarships at other institutes as well

Strong peer group which can motivate you academically.

Hi.

Decent placement opportunities — According to recent placement data, CU claims many job offers every year: there are hundreds of recruiters, and reportedly thousands of placement offers across departments.

Multiple admission/entry routes — Even if you don't get a top JEE rank (or even skip JEE), CU has alternate admission paths (e.g. via its own entrance/merit) — so you're not putting all eggs on a single exam result.

Good infrastructure & breadth — Many students report that CU's infrastructure (labs, campus, hostel, facilities) is “good enough, ” which is a plus if you end up there.

Reasonable “value‑for‑money” (wi

Hi.

Not exactly — “direct admission” at Chandigarh University (CU) can seem easier in some ways, but it comes with trade-offs compared to using a JEE score.

What “Direct Admission” Means at CU

Direct admission typically refers to admission without JEE or CU's own entrance test (CUCET).

Usually based on:

12th-grade marks / PCM aggregate

Management quota or merit-based evaluation

No competitive exam required, but availability of popular branches may be limited.

Hi.

Yes — Chandigarh University (CU) does give some advantage to students who appeared in JEE Main, even if their scores are not very high, but the advantage is limited and depends on several factors:

How JEE participation helps

Eligibility for JEE-based scholarships

Only students who have appeared in JEE Main are eligible for JEE-based merit scholarships, which can cover 10%–100% of tuition fees depending on your AIR/rank.

Even a low score may qualify you for a small scholarship (10–20%) if your rank falls within the eligible range.

Priority in certain counseling rounds

CU sometimes gives preference in seat allotment to JEE-qualified s

Hi.

Chandigarh University conducts its own CUCET (Chandigarh University Common Entrance Test) for students who don't have a valid JEE Main score.

If you don't take JEE, CUCET is the primary pathway to get admission into CSE or other engineering branches.

CU also accepts 10+2 marks or merit-based admission in some cases (especially for management quota seats).

Hi.

There is no fixed “minimum JEE Main percentile/rank” that guarantees admission to Chandigarh University (CU)'s B.Tech/B.E. in Computer Science Engineering (CSE), because admission depends on seat demand, number of applicants, branch popularity, and round of counselling. But we can estimate a rough “safe-ish range” based on recent years' closing ranks at CU.

What data says about recent cutoffs for CSE at CU

For 2024 admissions, the closing JEE‑Main rank (General, All‑India quota) for CSE at CU was ~ 80,940.

For 2023 it was ~ 63,416 and for 2022 ~ 47,509.

Cutoffs shift each year — depending on how many apply, how

Hi.

1. Admission is primarily through CUCET

Chandigarh University (CU) uses CUCET, its own entrance test, as the primary criterion for seat allotment in all B.Tech/B.E programs — including specialised CSE branches.

Whether you want CSE – Cyber Security, CSE – Cloud Computing, or CSE – Data Science, your CUCET score decides:

Eligibility

Seat allotment

Round-wise merit ranking

 2. JEE Main score helps for scholarships, not admission

CU offers merit-based scholarships for JEE Main qualifiers:

Scholarship percentage depends on JEE Main percentile/AIR.

Even for specialised CSE branches:

High JEE Main percentile → higher scholarship
