Getting NIT surathkal with 88 percentile in JEE Mains and belogs to SC category and having home state quota is nearly possible but not guaranteed as it depends on many factors:

• According to SC category marking criteria, they usually have relaxed cutoffs but it depends upon the overall performancr of students in your category
• Home state quota can be helpful for other best NITs and it will give you an advantage.home state students generally have lower cutoff than other state students but for NIT surathkal, competition is still difficult even with home state quota because it is one of the top NITs in india
• Cutoffs for courses like computer science, mechanical engineering and electronics are relatively higher because of their demand.if you can aim for some less competitive branch such as civil, chemical etc., your chances for selection will be higher

As per the round 3 of JEE Main cutoff 2025, it is possible to get admission to VNIT Nagpur with a rank of 40,000 in JEE Main. The cutoff for the General AI category candidates was closed at 709 and 42319. Looking at the cutoff range, it was evident that getting admission at 40,000 rank is possible, among the General AI category candidates. Among the OBC AI category candidates, the closing ranks varied between 405 and 14336. For the OBC AI category candidates, getting a seat at 40,000 is not possible.

For the General Home State quota candidates, the range of cutoff was between 505 and 47323. Therefore, it is possible to get admission to the college with 40,000 rank among the General Home State category candidates.
