No, there are no subjective questions are asked in the IIT JAM Exam. As per the IIT JAM Exam Pattern, the exam is conducted through complete online mode. There are 3 types of questions which are asked in the exam which are:
MCQ (Mulitple Choice Questions)
MSQ (Multiple Select Questions)
NAT (Numerical Answer Type)

JEE Mains is definitely an eligibility criteria for getting admission in engineering colleges but it's not the last criteria.
Many engineering colleges offer direct admissions based on your board marks.

Hello Ripan,
CBSE has announced results of JEE Mains. Successful candidates mean first about 2.2L. These students are allowed to appear in JEE Advanced and also allowed to seek admission in NIT's.

There is no specific branch wise but you can have the cutoff for various colleges. You may get seat but you can use Shiksha's college predictor tool for finding the college:
