If you want to do engineering then my suggestion would be do polytechnic and then degree as you get a good knowledge of your field as in polytechnic there is much practical oriented study.

JEE Mains and JEE Advanced are two different engineering entrance exams. JEE Mains is conducted just after 12th Boards in the month of April. Clearing Mains, you can get a rank and admission into the NITs (National Institute of Technology), IIITs, and various other colleges like Amity. Many private colleges admit students through the Mains score too. JEE Mains paper 1 has 90 MCQ Single Correct Option questions. 30 each from Maths, Physics and Chemistry. Marking Scheme is +4, -1. It totally depends on your stream of BE. If you are in mechanical, civil, electrical then your rank should be under 1200.
If your branch is electronics rank should be under 800, for CSE, IT the rank should be under 400.
The above-mentioned ranks are for general category.

First of all, congratulations, for scoring 480 marks in GATE. With that score, I am sure you can apply in all IITs and NITs. Still, you have to wait till they announce their cut-off list. It changes every year.

Yes, you are eligible for M.Tech in IIT, Kharagpur, I have checked the eligibility it says you have to score 60% in your graduation and the GATE score depends on the ranking. You can check more about it on the following link:-
