What 78.1 Percentile Means
Approximate rank: ~2.2–2.5 Lacs out of ~12 Lacs candidates.
NITs/IIITs via JoSAA: Not possible for CSE at this percentile. Even newer NITs close above 92–95 percentile.
State Government Colleges: Admission possible in government/aided colleges through state counseling (like REAP in Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh EAPCET, UPSEE, Maharashtra CAP).
Private Universities: Strong chance for CSE/IT admission, since many accept 70–80 percentile or even Class 12 marks.

With a 70 percentile in JEE Main (General category) and being from Andhra Pradesh (AP), here's a clear picture of your admission chances:
What 70 Percentile Means
- Approximate rank: 3,00,000 – 4,50,000.
- NITs/IIITs via JoSAA: Not possible, since even the lowest cutoffs for Civil/Mechanical in newer NITs close around 2–2.5 lakh.
- Government colleges in AP: You can still get admission through AP EAPCET (state counseling), where JEE Main rank is also considered for some seats.
Options in Andhra Pradesh
1. Government Colleges (via Andhra Pradesh EAPCET Counseling)
- JNTU Kakinada, JNTU Anantapur, AU College of Engineering (Visakhapatnam).
- At

JoSAA (NIT/IIIT/GFTI): ❌ Not possible.
State Govt Colleges (REAP Rajasthan): ✅ Possible, but mostly in Civil/Mechanical/Electrical.
Private Universities: ✅ Strong chance for CSE/IT/ECE.
👉 My advice:
Fill REAP AND OTHER STATES counseling for Rajasthan government colleges (you may get Civil/Mechanical/Electrical).
Apply to private universities in Jaipur (VGU, JECRC, Amity, Poornima) if you want CSE/IT.
Keep both routes open so you don't miss out.

With a JEE Main rank of 81,473, you have a realistic chance of admission to NIT Srinagar, but mostly in branches other than Computer Science or IT. Based on the 2025 cutoffs, you are more likely to get Mechanical, Civil, or possibly Electrical Engineering under the Home State quota.
Admission Chances at NIT Srinagar (JEE Main 2025 Cutoffs)
Home State Quota (Jammu & Kashmir)
| Branch | Closing Rank (2025) | Your Rank (81,473) | Admission Chance |

| Electrical Engineering (EE) | 115,153 | Within range | ✅ Possible |
| Mechanical Engineering (ME) | 120,565 | Within range | ✅ Strong |
| Civil Engineering (CE) | 105,578 | Within range | ✅ Strong |
Other State Quota
| Branch | Closing Rank (2025) | Your Rank (81,473) | Admission Chance |

With a JEE Main percentile of 93.95, admission to NIT Kurukshetra in high-demand branches like Computer Science, IT, or AI/ML is unlikely under the General category, but you may have chances in lower-demand branches (Civil, Production, or Environmental Engineering) depending on your category and whether you apply under Home State quota.
NIT Kurukshetra Cutoff 2025 (Percentile → Rank Context)
Cutoffs are published in All India Ranks (AIR), not percentiles. A 93.95 percentile usually corresponds to an AIR around 55,000–65,000 (approximate, varies by session).
General Category (Other State Quota) – Closing Ranks 2025
| Branch | Closing Rank (AIR) | Approx. Percentile Needed |
|---|---|---|
| Computer Engineering | ~11,000 | 98+ |
| IT | ~14,700 | 97.5+ |
| AI & ML | ~13,100 | 97.7+ |

With a JEE Main CRL rank of 130,586 and EWS category rank of 19,921, you are unlikely to secure seats in top NITs or IIITs, but you have a fair chance at lower-ranked NITs, GFTIs, and state-level engineering colleges through JoSAA counseling, especially in less competitive branches.
Your Admission Chances
1. NITs
- Top NITs (Trichy, Warangal, Surathkal, Jaipur, Allahabad): Cutoffs for EWS are usually below 10,000 rank. Your EWS rank (19,921) is higher, so chances are slim.
- Newer NITs (Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Nagaland, Manipur, Puducherry): Seats may be available in lower-demand branches like Mining, Metallurgy, Civil, or Biotechnol

NIT Puducherry BTech admissions are highly unlikely with 75 percentile in JEE Main, especially for the General category. The institute sees a high cutoff for BTech's All India Quota. With 75 percentile, admission may be possible for reserved categories. Students can check the last year cutoff to know more.
