If you belong to general category, you will not get a good branch in any IIT. Perhaps, you can get in good NITs in electrical, mechanical and civil engineering branches. Find out in which of the three branches you like the most by reading about the subjects that are taught in the branches, like if you like mechanical, you may get admission in NIT Surat, the best for Mechanical branch in India. Pursue branch that you really like. There are ample of opportunities in all the branches if you look for in all the three branches.

First of all get good books of all the subjects. Try clearing all the concepts that you find a little bit tough. Immense practice is what one requires to crack IIT - JEE. Solve various question papers every now and then, try finding questions that require a multi-step approach to solve. In case of any difficulty, ask your doubts, it is necessary to have your doubts cleared. Once you master a topic, solve as many tough questions as you can. Follow a strict schedule and don't waste much time on Social media for approximately 2 years - for it will decide, in which college you will get admission. At the same time, don't study too long, take 5-10 minute breaks every hour. Remember, it is not hard to crack IIT- JEE, it requires planned efforts. All the best for your preparation!
