Hello Kalyan,
If you are willing to clear the JEE Mains cut-off by dropping one year, its a good decision. You have to do work hard and with more effectiveness. The cut-off is keep on changing with years .It doesn't remain fixed. You just prepare well and give your best.

Yes, both are very prestigious and important exams for admissions at PG level or Master's level in India (GATE) and in foreign (GRE). Both have even different syllabus. You can Google the syllabus for both and can start preparing accordingly.

For getting admission in Jadavpur as this college is one of the best college of West Bengal and top 10 college of India.
So, it takes admission through WBJEE. So, you have to score very good in your WBJEE exam to get selected here.

You just prepare for your semester as getting good marks in semester is also important apart of gate exam.
