Many students at IIT have taken a drop. It's nothing uncommon, and is very normal.
I, myself, have taken a drop of one year to prepare for JEE and I too had faced this same dilemma few years back.
Also, be motivated throughout the year and try not to lose focus. The pressure on you to perform is greater when you take a drop, don't succumb to it, rather use it to your advantage.
I would advise you to make your decision free from any bias from people around you, be it your relatives or even parents, if you really have the drive to go for a drop then don't let anyone stop you.
Meanwhile if you aren't sure of yourself then not taking a drop wo

There are some colleges which conduct their own entrance exam, but it seems like the time is over to apply for them and some colleges intake is based on direct admission/management quota.
You can try for private colleges of GGSIPU, private colleges of UPSEE, colleges in Greater Noida like Galgotias, Amity, Sharda, GL Bajaj, GLA University, NIET, etc.

Hi Medhavi, your rank is very low to get admission at VIT university. Since the ranks between 1-100000 are called for admission(counseling) you may be called later only.
Even if you are called for counseling, it is not sure that you will get admission. For sure , you cannot get VIT Vellore but you can get in category 3,4,or 5 only.
You will have to pay a lot of fees around Rs 350000 per annum(management quota).
So you try your luck in counseling.
All the best!
