It has been ranked 92 out of 200 colleges according to NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) 2023, 11th in technology and 3089 worldwide with 1659 publications. The placements of this is good as the median package offered is Rs 5.6 LPA in UG courses and 9 LPA in PG courses.

The syllabus of KEAM is prescribed by CEE Kerala. The KEAM syllabus comprises all three subjects Physics Chemistry & Mathematics. KEAM syllabus is based on class 11 and 12 examinations. The weightage of the subjects in KEAM will be 5:3:2 in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

A minimum of fifty-five per cent of marks in a B.E./B.Tech (Chemical Engg./Leather Technology/Bio-Tech./Industrial Bio-Tech./Bio-Chemical Engg./Bio-Informatics) or B.Pharm. Or M.Sc.(Ag.)/M.V.Sc./M.Sc. In any discipline of Life Sciences is needed for admission to the M.Tech. Bio-Technology application.

A GATE or PGECET scorecard is needed for admission to KL University's M.Tech application. For others, the university administers a front exam, with admission based on the merit rank of certified candidates.
