Although admission to BE/ BTech programme at TIET is conducted through JEE Main. Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology accepts JEE Main scores as well as merit for admisison to the BE/ BTech courses. Based on the JEE Main score and Class 12 scores, candidates are then called for the TIET Counselling process. Admissions for vacant seats (if any) in subsequent rounds of counselling is done based on All India rank (AIR) of JEE Main 2023 as a tie breaker. The cutoff trend for B.Tech at CMR College of Engineering and Technology has been decreasing in the recent years. In 2022, the closing rank for B.Tech. under general category for all India quota was 17867. In 2023, it decreased to 17573. Likewise, the cut off ranks have changed from 30923 to 30973 for OBC, 63157 to 80092 for SC, 21674 to 15648 for EWS. This trend is likely to continue in the coming years, as the demand for engineering education in India continues to grow. Similar cut off trend can be seen for female candidates under all categories however the ranks are slightly different.
