Civil Engineering is one of the core or primary subjects for GATE 2024. It covers a wide range of topics and concepts based on which the questions in the exam will be asked. Section 2: Structural Engineering
Engineering Mechanics: System of forces, free-body diagrams, equilibrium equations; Internal forces in structures; Frictions and its applications, etc.
Solid Mechanics: Bending moment and shear force in statically determinate beams; Simple stress and strain relationships, etc.
Structural Analysis: Statically determinate and indeterminate structures by force or energy methods; Method of superposition, etc.
Construction Materials and Management: Construction Materials: Structural Steel Composition, material properties and behavior, etc.
Concrete Structures: Working stress and Limit state design concepts, etc.
Steel Structures: Working stress and Limit state design concepts; Design of tension and compression members, etc.
Section 3: Geotechnical Engineering
