There are no restrictions regarding the attempts in the IES exam. The candidates can appear in the IES exam till they fulfil the age criteria prescribed in the IES notification.

UPSC ESE IES 2023 notification was released online on September 14, 2022. The last date to fill out the application was October 4, 2022. The IES 2023 prelims was conducted on February 19, 2023, across the nation in offline mode. The IES 2023 prelims result was released online on March 3. The Union Public Service Commission will conduct the IES 2023 main exam on June 25. The Commission is expected to release the UPSC ESE (IES) 2023 main exam admit card on June 4. The IES main exam 2023 will be conducted in offline mode at the designated exam centres across the nation. The IES main exam result is expected to released in September 2023.

The IES prelims 2023 admit card was released online on January 27. The candidates need to download their admit card from the official website of UPSC. The candidates will be required to carry the photo identity proof, as mentioned in the IES application, with the IES admit card. IES prelims exam will be conducted on February 19.

IES 2023 Prelims result was released online on March 3. ESE IES exam 2023 was conducted offline on February 19, 2023. There are two papers in the IES prelims exam and the marks secured in the prelims exam are considered for the final merit list. The Union Public Service Commission UPSC released the IES 2023 admit card on January 27.

The Commission is expected to release the UPSC ESE IES 2023 admit card in the first week of June. The Commission will conduct the IES 2023 main exam on June 25. The Commission is expected to release the UPSC ESE IES 2023 Detailed Application Form, The IES main exam will be a descriptive type exam where the candidates will be required to write essay-type conventional answers. The eligible candidates who cleared the IES 2023 prelims exam will be able to fill out the IES main exam form after login.

The Indian Railways will now recruit officers through the IRMS exam, and only the prelim stage will be common to the UPSC CSE; the other two stages have separate exam structures. Both ways are good; if you want to join for generalist positions through IRMS, CSE is better, whereas if you want to become a specialist, ESE is better.

True, you can get a better salary offer at a PSU than at an IES. For example, the basic pay is around Rs. 60,000 in most PSUs, whereas the pay scale of an IES entry-level position is Rs. 15,600 to Rs. 39,100. However, the perks offered to IES officers outweigh the salary part of PSUs. These includes:
1. IES has better authority and respect in society than any other PSU. You will get the title of "government officer" as an IES.
2. Except for Indian Railways, every department in the IES offers postings in Tier 2 cities. However, because the plants are located in rural areas, you are more likely to be posted in rural areas in PSU.
