The MBA selection process  at Thakur Institute of Management Studies and Research (TIMSR) is based on merit and entrance exams. The eligibility criteria for admission to the TIMSR MBA programme  is a minimum of 50% aggregate marks for graduation from a recognised university. The selection process includes  Written Aptitude Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI). The weight given to each part of the selection process may vary from year to year. MAT scores are only one of the criteria for B-school admissions. Applicants are initially selected based on their MAT score or cutoffs for further rounds of  MBA colleges that admit 80-90 percent in MAT 2023.

The university, however, does not state which entrance tests it accepts for admission to other courses. The cutoffs are determined by the university based on a number of factors, including academic performance and entrance exam scores. TMBU does not have a set cutoff for its courses, and admission is dependent on a merit list of candidates chosen for each course.
