The degree holders can work as legal advisors in government departments on important policy and legislative issues or as government policy analysts, analysing legal issues and assisting in developing public policy. The university has 42 seats for the LLM course. Faculty of Law, CU LLM seat allotment process is carried out through e-counselling. The seats are allotted based on the applicants scores in the CULET-UG examination. It must be noted that the mentioned seat intake is as per the official website/sanctioning body. The admission to the LLM programme is done on the basis of applicants scores in the Calcutta University Law Entrance Test (CULET-UG) scores. Candidates seeking admission are thus required to register and apply to take the test. Before filling out the form, aspirants must check out the eligibility requirements. No, the University of Calcutta may not admit candidates without a valid score of CULET-UG. Hence, the aspirants must take the entrance exam and secure a good score in it. Apart from this, the aspirants must fulfil the course-specific eligibility requirements, i.e., LLB/BA LLB or equivalent degree pass with the required minimum aggregate.

The Calcutta University may reserve certain seats for candidates belonging to SC/ST or other such categories. It follows the reservation rules of the Government of West Bengal. Candidates taking admission under a reserved category have to submit the relevant document for verification. Moreover, the university has a seat intake of 120 for the BA LLB course. For admission to BA LLB programme of Faculty of Law, Calcutta University, candidates must meet the prescribed eligibility and selection criteria. The aspirants who are Class 12 pass with at least 45% aggregate (40% for reserved categories) are eligible to register and take the entrance test. Calcutta University admit candidates to the integrated course based on Calcutta University Law Entrance Test (CULET-UG) scores.
