Fashion Design

There are 175 questions in the FDDI AIST 2026 M.Des entrance test. Question paper will be of 200 marks. The exam will be in English and Hindi.

There will be 126 questions in FDDI AIST 2026 B.Des programme. Paper will be of 200 marks. Sections in the exam will be Analytical Ability, Design Aptitude Test, General Awareness, Comprehension and Grammar, Usage, etc.

Sketches are evaluated based on concept clarity, proportion, detailing, and improvement over time.

Faculty focus on whether a student is developing rather than whether they are perfect artists. Even students who struggle with drawing improve steadily through practice and feedback.

Assignments are mostly practical. Students work on:

• Theme-based collections

• Fabric exploration and manipulation

• Mood boards and concept development

• Design sketches and technical drawings

• Finished garments and samples

There is some theory, like fashion history or textiles, but even those subjects may involve visual or creative submissions rather than long written answers.

The course is quite beginner-friendly!

Many students join without knowing stitching or sketching properly. The first year focuses on basics like fabric knowledge, hand stitches, basic pattern making, and fashion illustration. Faculty don't assume prior experience and teach everything step by step. Students are encouraged to make mistakes early so they learn properly. By the end of the first year, most students feel significantly more confident than when they started.

TDV includes Design Aptitude Test and Personal Interview. The student's are evaluated based on their creativity and problem-solving skills.

The entrance exam is held for 2 hours. It includes MCQs and descriptive questions which will evaluate the student's creative abilities, analytical skills and awareness.

There isn't one single "best" fashion design entrance exam, but the NIFT Entrance Exam is most popular in India for its top-tier institutes, followed by NID DAT, UCEED, and private exams like Pearl Academy's and TDV for broader options

SEED B.Des round 2 was conducted on March 22, 2026. It was conducted in online mode. Exam timing was one hour between 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on the test day. It had 60 questions.
