The Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI), conducts their own entrance exam for admission to BDes programme. AIST (All India Selection Test) is the Institute's entrance exam. Registration is ongoing and the last date to apply is April 4, 2024. Admission to the BDes programme is based on the Merit list, which is based on the candidate's performance in AIST. Also, the Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI) accepts UCEED scores for admission to its B.Des programme. The course aims at enhancing critical thinking, reasoning skills, and intellectual skills, particularly in the retail sector. Admission to the MBA is based on the All India Selection Test (AIST), which is conducted by the Insitute. Aslo candidates have to qualify the eligibility criteria: Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from any Institute / University recognised by law in India.

It has also been declared as the Institution of National Importance under the FDDI Act 2017. As for the placement record, 83% of students are placed each year.
