Being one of the most important engineering exams, GATE witnesses a number of candidates every year. You should study with a strategy and focus on clearing your basics. Ones who are highly motivated and have a clear vision of their goal can be able to score well in this exam. Start off with analyzing the GATE syllabus. Then divide and try to break the syllabus into sub-categories and do the same with each subject further. Time is like money, so spend it intelligently. The best time to start your GATE preparation is today, right after going through my answer. Just pick one of the subjects you feel good at and start the preparation. After completing one subject, the immediate next step should be solving previously asked GATE questions. Note down the important points in notebook while covering the topics. There are few subjects which are easier to score, so you may focus on them first. Solve previous GATE question for each subject. After completing each subject, start revising each subject thoroughly. Take multiple Mock Tests until you score your best. At this final stage of preparation, practicing quality questions before attempting actual GATE will boost your confidence and improve your problem-solving speed. At this crucial stage, don't try to read any new topic.
1. From June to December cover all the subjects at least once using standard books/ class notes and question banks.
2. The month of December should be mostly focused on revision and subject tests along with covering 1-2 less important subjects.
3. In the last month I. e. January you can start giving mock tests and simultaneously work on your weaker subjects which you will realize after mock tests.
4. Dedicate one hour each day to prepare for college exams so that you are burdened in the exam month.
5. Take small B.Tech project which does not consume majority of your time so choose the guide wisely. The guide should be the professor who will least bother you. I am hope my answer helped you!
Also do smart work not hard work, understand each topic properly, be confident and determined, etc.
