Yes, for admission, you have to appear for GATE exam no matter it is management quota or other. Management quota means if you have got less marks in qualifying exam, then cut-off is decided by the college. A student can get admission according to Management quota. For details about the management quota fee, please contact the college.

Eligibility Criteria for Post-Graduate Course (Masters of Architecture-

GATE qualified candidates can follow the following procedure to apply in IPU for M.Tech CSE:-
1.Apply by filling the application form first. The last date of filling the application form is May 1, 2018.
2. After having filled the application form, a merit list based on different scores will be issued by IPU. Keep yourself updated about the merit list by visiting http://www.ipu.ac.in/
3. Based on your gate score you will be called for counseling most probably in June/July.

You can take admission in any state college in M.Tech course and can give yourself another chance to perform better next time as this score is not enough to get a decent college neither it can provide you any PSU chance taking admission in M.Tech will help you as you know will get monthly scholarships of Rs. 12k and you can prepare well and give GATE next year.

You are just a new in engineering. So, just get dissolved in the engineering environment first. Keep going with your academics with proper studies, because in GATE you will be facing the engineering mathematics subject which are currently studying in the first and second year of B.Tech. Just start preparing when your 4 semester will starts. Keep track on the syllabus and pattern of the GATE paper every year. Just keep practicing the question of the paper. Download it for the NET. Certainly not. You need to check the entire syllabus of your stream related to GATE. Aptitude is a small portion of GATE Syllabus which consist of 7 to 15 marks in the exam. In order to get good rank you need to cover the syllabus and practice ample amount of problems. Completing only few topics won't help you in clearing the cut-off of PSUs and IITs.
