If you have done textile engineering then PG from NIFT will be a better optiin because NIFT is related to designing. M.tech through GATE also have options for pursuing course related to designing but. there are very few colleges and courses available in this case. Hence go for NIFT.

in my opinion, coaching is not at all compulsory for GATE. However if you want, you can join a coaching. GATE exam checks your aptitude in engineering subject.So, you must have your basics clear. keep referring to the standard books, and practice a lot of questions.

If you clear GATE you will get job in PSU which use GATE score to hire engineers. You will get CTC around Rs 6+ Lakhs. Private sector does not use GATE score for hiring.

You are advised to study well and prepare for GATE. GATE will help you admission in M.Tech and job in PSUs. You may also prepare for Indian Engineering Services examination.

Here are some tips which you can keep in mind while preparing for GATE :
Go through latest syllabus of GATE.Read articles written by previously qualified candidates.Try to solve as much as possible theoretical and numerical problems.Develop some good tricks which will save your calculation time.
