Yes, GATE rank is valid for three years. However, some PSUs might not accept previous year's GATE scorecard. Therefore, it is better to go through guidelines and official notification before applying. If a candidate has more than two GATE scorecard, then they must use the one with best score and rank.
GATE 2026 scorecard will be made available for free download from March 27 to May 31. Later from June 1 to December 31, the scorecard can be downloaded by paying a fee of INR 500. The GATE scorecard 2026 will remain valid till 2029.

After the release of GATE result, candidates must check refer to the college predictor to check their chances of which college they can get with their scores. This will give a brief idea to list out college and institute options and stay prepared before the counselling process start.
It must be noted that, IIT Guwahati will not conduct counselling. The process will be done in two portals - COAP for IITs admission and CCMT for NITS, IIITs, and GFTIs.

For now, there are no updates regarding how many candidates have registered and appeared for GATE 2026 exam. IIT Guwahati will release candidate's stats on its official website along with minimum qualifying cutoff marks and results. Meanwhile here is the stats last 5 years of number of candidates registered and appeared in Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering -

The GATE normalisation process is mainly done for the papers which is conducted in multiple sessions, to ensure fairness across different difficulty level. The GATE normalisation process uses the formula based on mean and standard deviation of marks from all sessions.
The normalisation process in GATE is done for computer Science and engineering (CSE) and civil engineering paper (CE).

No, GATE official question paper is not released yet. The question paper for respective subjects will be made available along with answer key and GATE 2026 response sheet. The expected release date is last week of February.

No, it is not compulsory to attempt all questions asked in GATE question paper. Since there is negative marking for incorrect answers, students are advised to answer those questions which they are confident of.

The following IITs have the lowest GATE cutoffs -
- IIT Mandi
- IIT Palakkad
- IIT Tirupati and
- IIT Dharwad
These IITs mostly offer admission with GATE AIR between 3000 - 5000 ranks (approx) for computer Science and engineering.

No, the GATE 2026 question paper has not been released. The expected release date is last week of February 2026.
