Admission to the Government College of Technology (GCT), typically referring to the one in Coimbatore, is not easy due to high competition.
It requires a strong TNEA (Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions) rank, based on 12th-grade marks (Physics, Chemistry, Math), with cutoffs often above 190/200 for general category students. For popular branches like Mechanical or CSE, the cutoff can exceed 195. Reserved categories have lower thresholds, around 170-180. The process is merit-based, with no entrance exam, but limited seats and GCT's reputation make it challenging.

Getting admission to B.Tech Mechanical Engineering at Government College of Technology (GCT), Coimbatore, is competitive but feasible with good marks in the 12th-grade exams. Admission is based on Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA), where cutoffs for mechanical engineering typically vary each year. It can be slightly higher due to the branch's popularity, but students who meet the required criteria generally secure a seat. The process is relatively straightforward if you have strong academic credentials and meet the cutoff.
