There are no other branch, Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU) is located in Shimla district Ghandal and was established in the year 2016, by the Himachal Pradesh Act of 2016. The university has now become a part of the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) consortium. The university is approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and ranked 5 among NLU’s by CLAT Cutoff list. At present, the university provides students with undergraduate programs, postgraduate programs and doctoral programs.

Admissions shall be made strictly on merit on the basis of marks obtained in the Entrance Test provided he / she obtains at least 50% marks in the Entrance Test (45% marks for SC/ST candidates). This is a two year programme of regular study.

The cutoff for Himachal Pradesh National Law University Shimla in 2023 will be determined by the Consortium of National Law Universities (NLU) during the CLAT counseling process. Candidates who have appeared in CLAT 2023 exam and meet the HPNLU 2023 Shimla cut-off scores will be considered for admission. 

The last round cutoff for the different years was as follows:

2021: 829

2022: 1492

2023: 2362

The selection method goes through 2 routes: direct admission and entrance tests. The establishments taking direct admission choose the scholars on the idea of the benefits list. The establishment that prefers the doorway check as admission settle for the innumerable entrance check for law programs like CLAT, AILET, and LSAT. Some universities like GGSIPU could conduct their own entrance check. once clearing the doorway, some institutes could need the qualified candidates to look for associate degree interview for the selection method.
