The number of seats available for the B.A. LL.B. program at Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU) is 60, out of which 25 percent of the seats are reserved for Himachal Pradesh Domicile Candidates. However, the university is relatively new, having been established in 2016. As of 2023, Himachal Pradesh National Law University accepts Common Law Admission Test scores for admission to its undergraduate courses, including BA LLB.

NLU Shimla offers admission to BA LLB (Hons) course based on merit in the CLAT exam. Candidates who have passed Class 12 with a 45% aggregate (40% for SC/ST) can apply. The HPNLU Shimla CLAT cutoff 2026 was released for admission to BA LLB (Hons), LLM, and BBA LLB (Hons) course for all categories belonging to the All India and Home State quota. The closing rank for the General AI category candidates was 1824 for the BA LLB (Hons) course, 1871 for the BBA LLB (Hons) course, and 1655 for LLM course, according to the Round 1 closing ranks.
