Hindustan Institute of Maritime Training, Chennai offers BTech and BSc programmes at the UG level. HIMT Chennai admission to the UG courses is determined by candidates' ranks in IMUCET, while for other programs, HIMT administers an entrance examination. Successful candidates in the respective exams proceed to an interview and medical examination for final selection. Hindustan Institute of Maritime Training (HIMT Chennai) is a private institute,  located in Kilpauk, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It has four campuses in Kilpauk,  Tidel Park,  Kalpakkam, and Vizag. Established in 1998,  HIMT is the only Institute in India to offer the maximum courses (90+) approved by the DG of Shipping. The institute is affiliated with the Indian Maritime University. HIMT Chennai is approved by the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) and the Ministry of Shipping (Government of India) with a sanctioned intake of 60 students for each course.
