No, it completely depends upon the university you want to take admission in. There are many colleges in India that accept students based on class 12th merit into their BA Sanskrit course program.
The merit percentage in 12th class for BA Sanskrit course admission varies from 45% to 55% for different colleges. Although, there are a few top universities that demand entrance exam qualification as mentioned in their admission requirement.

There are several entrance exams that are mostly accepted by the top universities in India. These include CUET UG, JNU CUET, IPU CET, NPAT, etc.
Most of the colleges take merit based admission for undergraduate course in Sanskrit. Only a few top colleges ask for specific entrance exam qualification.
CUET UG is the most common and popular entrance exam accepted by colleges to BA Sanskrit program.
