Q:   Is a CUET score of 280 good for admission to B.A. (Hons) Pol Science at Sri Venkateswara College?

A:

Hello Nishar Ahmed, Sri Venkateswara College which is located in the south campus of Delhi University has quite a good reputation among students and hence closing ranks or scores of c u e t for admission are quite high. For different courses depending on the priority of the students the score very is from say 508 to 754. With each passing year this score is only likely to increase rather than decrease and hence a student with just about 280 as a score in CUET has almost no chances of getting admission in this prestigious college of the Delhi University.

Best wishes to you.

Q:   Is Sri Venkateswara College best in Delhi?

A:

Venky (SVC is popularly known as Venky) ranks among top colleges of DU and the best co-ed college in South campus. Faculty is excellent in terms of qualifications, experience, research and behaviour specially Dr. Shruti Mathur. She is an amazing and diligent teacher which is hard to find in DU.You will never feel dull. Crowd is lively and Satya niketan market is just opposite to the college GATE which is any day better than North Campus ( I have done my M.Com. from North Campus, thats why I can compare the two). You have all the famous restaurants of Hudson Lane in immediate vicinity. One lecture is free and you can hop to the delicious momos across the street. QDs, BYD, Pizza Hut, Keventers, 34 Chowringee Lane among so many. And college’s canteen is okay.

Absolutely satisfied with my life at Venky.
Placements: Our college provides various placement opportunities. Last year, the highest package was 21.5 Lacs and average package was 5.3 Lacs. Around 60% students were placed. Major recruiters were Deloitte, PWC, KPMG, Accenture, De Shaw, etc. Also, internship opportunities were provided to students of 1 and 2 year.
Infrastructure: Our college has a very soothing environment with greenery all around, which is quite soothing to the eyes and mind. Classrooms and libraries are also well maintained. Its labs have air conditioning installed, plus there are security cameras all around the campus.
Faculty: The faculty of my college is quite good. Teachers are very supportive and friendly. They are always ready to give career-guiding advice, but there is some kind of language barrier as many teachers are from the south and aren't fluent in Hindi, but otherwise they are all highly qualified.
Other: Our college annual fest is Nexus. This year it took place in April. It is one of the best fest of Delhi University.

Satisfied with good infrastructure, other facilities, excellent placements and internships.
Placements: Almost 3,000 students are placed in my college. The highest package is 21 LPA, with the average being 5.3 LPA. The top recruiting companies are Wipro, Amazon, etc. Almost 80–90% of students get internships. The role offered is manager post. And everything is quite successful for every individual.
Infrastructure: Classrooms with 4 ceiling fans, Wi-Fi available 24/7, and a library with full AC during college opening hours. And up to 9 pm during exam time, the hostel has very good internet connectivity and has provided nutritional food. We have 2 tennis courts, 1 basketball court, cricket ground, table tennis, etc. Most of the players have represented at Khelo, India.
Faculty: Teachers are really knowledgeable and not only teach about academics but also teach us many things regarding curricular activities. They have told us about their journey and some of their friends, which motivated us to excel in the field and do better things for our institution. And the course curriculum was very relevant. As it has truly been said by one of our professors, if you study, then the paper seems easy. If you don't, it automatically becomes hard for them. The passing percentage is 33 percent, which I think every individual can score if they study.

Academic Excellence and Beyond: Exploring Venky College.
Placements: I haven't heard much about placements since we are in our freshman year but, according to the graduates who have already passed out, introduced to us by the professors, Chemistry has a wide range of applicability and can work in any field. From my observations, recruitment from companies is on a very small scale. Coming to internships, almost 80% of my batch participated in the internship fair out of which almost got a letter of word from different companies. But due to long hours of work and unfavorable timings, most of them drop the internship offers. As I have mentioned, Chemistry has a wide range of applicability and a student can opt to pursue a Ph.D. or MBA. The advantage of pursuing an MBA is that a person learns to manage business with the companies and also pursues his/her Science interest. If a student is more clear on pure Science, it is recommended to pursue a doctorate degree.
Infrastructure: Most of the books are available in the library for B.Sc. Chemistry though some books are in limited amount. The infrastructure of the Chemistry department is average though it would be much appreciated for the authorities to install ACs in classrooms to tolerate this scorching heat. Sports and games are available if one wants to participate in them.
Faculty: The teaching faculty members are good although lacking at some corners but I personally feel it is up to the students to fill the gaps that their teacher leaves behind. The teachers are highly qualified and they know what they are doing. The semester exams were just average, of course if you study, it's at a pretty average level, nothing like rocket Science questions are asked in freshmen years though the review might change in the succeeding years. The pass percentage is about 90%.
Other: The pure interest in Chemistry brought me out here in this burning city to pursue Bachelor's. I was never good in Chemistry which engraved curiosity corners in my mind. I would say the best thing about this course was the professors that made me change the perspective of teacher-student relationship and my batchmates who had a helpful mindset in every instance.

B.A. (Hons.) in English - Batch of 2024

Life at SVC: a sweet ride.
Placements: There were a good number of students in commerce courses at the end of the third year. An average package of 6 LPA was common, while the highest stretches to 15+ LPA bagged by a few candidates. Companies like Deloitte were observed to take people across courses, maintaining that they had offered internships previously. In my course, most people opted for further studies instead of campus placements, and some opted for working for publishing houses.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is pretty decent. The classrooms are clean and ventilated, some have air conditioning, and most have projectors. The labs are well maintained, wi-fi is available consistently throughout the campus, there is an ATM, and there are two options for food: the canteen (which serves decent and hygienic food) and Maggi Point for snacks. The library is a bit cramped, but it has a good number of books for reference. There is a medical room, a beautiful green garden, and huge grounds. The hostel is decent, provides meals, basic furnishing, and has the advantage of proximity to a college, but it admits very few students based on academics.
Faculty: Faculty and academics, as a humanities student, are undoubtedly the best parts of SVC. The professors are well accomplished and experienced, and they are always up for academic discussions even outside of class timings. In the classroom, there's a non-judgmental atmosphere where everyone can speak their minds. The professors are lenient with assignments too, provided one doesn't exceed the deadline. The curriculum is refreshed every few years, so it stays relevant. Semester exams are checked leniently; however, one should take internals seriously and maintain a minimum CGPA of 5.
Other: The best thing about English honors from DU is that you really learn how to understand and analyze text to near perfection. This is a useful skill in the dying age of media literacy and can benefit one's career. Besides that, the experience at SVC—the college life—is something that stays with you for the rest of your days.

Outstanding college with all exposure including placements, Faculties, infrastructure and fests.
Placements: Around 50 percent of the students were placed from my batch due to the recession, while around 70 percent were placed from the previous year's batch. The highest package offered was 21.5 LPA, the lowest was 4 LPA, and the average was 6 LPA. The top recruiting companies include Brain and Company, ZS Associates, DE Shaw, EY, PwC, Deloitte, KPMG, MakeMyTrip, Ecom Express, etc. About 20 percent of students secured internships with companies like Zomato, Lenskart, Wise Finserv, Bajaj Capital, Invest India, DE Shaw, and many more. The top roles offered are Associate, Analyst, Graduate Trainee, and Financial Research Analyst.
Infrastructure: The facilities and infrastructure are quite excellent in terms of the services provided, such as Wi-Fi, science labs, classrooms with smart boards, and a library with all genres of books. The hostel facilities include proper meals, a hygienic atmosphere, and good food quality; the campus and mess maintain high standards of hygiene. On-campus medical facilities are available for students who get injured. Sports and games are celebrated annually, with Palemo being organized as part of the sports festival. We have grounds for basketball, cricket, volleyball, and tennis, as well as an indoor games room for chess, carrom, and table tennis.
Faculty: The teachers are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable, and the teaching quality is good. Teachers act as mentors and help students in every possible way. The course curriculum is relevant because if students want to pursue different professional courses, this is a good course to take, and they can pursue courses like CFA, CA, and CMA, etc. The semester exams are not very difficult; it really depends on who studies and clears their concepts. The pass percentage is around 90 percent, and students can easily pass if they have a good knowledge of Accounts, Maths, and Theory Subjects.
Other: I chose this course because of the exposure to explore different fields. The best things about my course are that one can gain practical knowledge and easily pursue a Master’s in relevant fields. The administration work can be improved, and the department can work more to enhance the curriculum. Nexus is the annual festival of the college, with stars like Mohit Chauhan performing. Comfiesta is the commerce fest organized, with events like social drives, speaker sessions, and competitions. The campus crowd is good when you are in contact with the right people. The clubs and societies are available to help you with extracurricular activities. Scholarships are available for students to waive their fees. The connectivity is good; you can easily get a metro, with the nearest metro being Durgabai Deshmukh South Campus, which is about a 100-meter walk.
