IGNOU provides Ph.D. programs in 42 different specializations at the doctoral level. A PhD might take as little as three years to as long as six years.
Candidates must possess a master's degree in a subject area from an accredited university, with at least 55% aggregate (50% for SC, ST, OBC (Non-creamy Layer), differently-abled candidates, and other categories of candidates). Meets the eligibility criteria for admission to the national IGNOU entrance test.

IGNOU provides a UG BSc programme with seven specialisations, a BSc (Hons) programme with two specialisations, and a PB BSc Nursing degree in the discipline of science. The minimum and maximum terms for each of these courses are three and six years, respectively.

Once the IGNOU BEd entrance exam results are declared candidates can move forward for the next process in the IGNOU BEd selection. Qualified candidates will be invited to attent the counselling process and as per the merit list and marks they have scored, they will be able to pursue the BEd programme from IGNOU distance learning mode. IGNOU BEd is opted by working professionals and the degree is recogised by various educational institutions.

As IGNOU is one of the largest open univsities in the world and provides qualify education. The IGNOU BEd programme is recognised by the NCTE vide their Letters No. F3/DL-83/99/7807-7812 dated 31/05/1999 and NRC/NCTE/OL-83/dated 23/10/2015 is offered in NCTE-approved B.Ed. Training Colleges of Education in the country.

Recently IGNOU launched their new Masters programme MSCPH which is Master of Science (physics) and the eligibility criteria for doing this PG programme the qualification required as per their site is follows:
• Graduates with Major/Honours in Physics
• Graduates with a B.Sc. Degree (including IGNOU B.Sc. Programme under CBCS) with Physics and Mathematics
• Graduates with a B.Sc. Degree of IGNOU or any recognised Open University with a minimum of 32 Credits of Physics, and Mathematics as one of the subjects.
