You can pursue a Ph.D. after earning an M.Com. provided that your degree has been authorised by the IGNOU or the Distance Education Council. The Ph.D. programme requires at least a post-graduate degree to be admitted. Both the conventional course and the remote learning option for the Ph.D. are available. You must have a PG grade of at least 50%. The course lasts for three years, and the tuition is Rs. 16800.

The eligibility criteria for B.Com. at IGNOU is as follows:
The candidate should have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board or university.
The candidate should have studied English as a compulsory subject in 10+2 or equivalent examination.
The candidate should have registered for the Common Proficiency Test (CPT) conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and passed at least one CPT examination. This is applicable only for those who want to pursue B.Com. with Major in Accountancy and Finance (BAF) or B.Com. with Major in Corporate Affairs and Administration (BCCA).

IGNOU BEd Admission 2024 will remain open in the last week of November 2023 and the tentative last date to apply for IGNOU BEd Admission is 25 December 2023. The two-year professional degree programme for Bachelor of Education admission will be done online and offline.
Candidates who hold a UG or PG degree with a minimum of 50 percent aggregate marks in any stream and specialisation are eligible to apply for admission. Although, DU SOL is 23 years older than IGNOU, yet the latter has an edge over the former in the following ways:
- DU SOL has limited courses to offer as compared to IGNOU provides a wide range of courses which are more than 200 in number
- In DU SOL, the students are required to go to classes and exam centres assigned strictly by the university. Whereas IGNOU provides the facility to select the nearest location so that it’s easy for the students to commute
