For the General AI quota, the IIT Madras CSE cutoff 2025 stood at 171 in the first round. Till the last round, the cutoff remained the same, indicating all seats got filled after the first round of the JEE Advanced cutoff. For IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay, the CSE cutoff ranks were closed at 126 and 66, respectively, for the same category. So, considering the cutoff ranks, the IIT Madras cutoff for CSE was comparatively less competitive for admission among the Engineering aspirants as compared to that of IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay.

For the M.A. in Economics at IIT Madras, the GATE 2024 cutoff was 621 for the General category. Additionally, the IIT JAM 2024 cutoff for the Economics (EN) paper was 24.64 for the General category. These cutoffs indicate the minimum scores required for admission consideration.

The IIT Madras B.S. in Medical Sciences and Engineering is perhaps one of the new programs that seek to blend medical sciences and engineering into one. The admission to this program will be through the JEE Advanced examination, and the candidate should also fulfill eligibility criteria as well as have to contend with cutoffs according to his rank. The course has an internship in a hospital associated with it and aims to bridge theory with practical hands-on experience. The trend for the last round closing rank for BTech in CSE at IIT Madras over the past three years (2021-2023) has been fluctuating.
The closing rank was 163 for the general category in the last round (Round 6) of JoSAA counselling in 2021. In 2022, it saw an increase, reaching 175 for the general category in the last round. Whereas, in 2023, the closing rank for the general category dipped again to 148 in the last round.
This trend indicates that the exact cut-off rank can vary slightly each year.
