Yes, you can still get admission to aerospace engineering even if you didn't score 75% in your polytechnic. Most colleges require around 50–60% minimum marks for lateral entry, not necessarily 75%. Eligibility depends on the specific university and entrance criteria. You may need to appear for a lateral entry test or be admitted based on merit.

Lovely Professional University generally accepts diploma students with qualifying marks (around 60%) for lateral entry into B.Tech Aerospace Engineering through LPUNEST or direct admission, along with scholarship opportunities and strong lab facilities for practical learning.

IIT Madras cutoff 2026 was released for round 1 for admission to the MS course based on the IIT JAM entrance examination. 

Based on round 1 for the General AI category, the highest cutoff (most competitive) course was for the M.Sc. in Physics course, with the cutoff being 157. To know the most competitive course and its cutoff for other categories, students can refer to the table below.

IIT Madras eligibility for each course-level is different. Students need to meet the basic admission requirements to get a seat at IIT Madras. The basic eligibility requirements for IIT Madras programmes are as below:

  • For IIT Madras UG Engineering courses - Class 12 with a minimum aggregate of 75% and Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as mandatory subjects
  • For IIT Madras PG courses - Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required. The minimum marks may vary depending on the course.

For IIT Madras summer internships, a candidate must fulfill the following criteria:

  • Working Professionals are not eligible to apply for internships
  • Students must pursue the IITM BSc Degree without other commitments (on-campus degree or full-time job)
  • Students will have to fulfill training requirements before they apply for internships.
  • Students should have completed 4 courses + 2 course projects at the Diploma level.
  • Students will be allowed to apply once they complete at least one Diploma course.
  • Non-refundable Registration fees of INR 1,800 (incl GST) must be submitted

The mode of IIT Madras course admissions is online. IIT Madras admission to various programmes is done through national-level entrance exams including JEE MainJEE Advanced,  IIT JAM and GATE, among others. For admission to the flagship BTech programmes, candidates are selected based on valid JEE-Advanced ranks followed by the JoSAA counselling process. After the successful completion of the counselling process, various candidates are selected for the final seat allotment.
