No, the UGC NET exam is not mandatory for MSc admissions at IIT Patna. Candidates who wish to apply for MSc admissions at IIT Patna can appear for the GATE or IIT JAM exam to qualify for admissions. UGC NET scores are only accepted for the integrated MSc +PhD courses offered by IIT Patna.

The duration of integrated MSc courses offered by IIT Patna is usually five years. The MSc integrated courses combine the curriculum of both MSc and PhD courses of the same specialisation at IIT Patna.

No, the GATE registrations for IIT Patna 2026 MSc admissions are no longer open. The GATE registrations were closed in the month of November 2025. The GATE is scheduled to take place in the month of February 2026. Candidates who failed to register for the GATE are required to wait for the GATE 2027 registrations to open for IIT Patna MSc admissions.

No, the IIT Patna MSc admissions are yet to open for the year 2026. The admission of a candidates for IIT Patna MSc course is based on the scores obtained in the IIT JAM. The registrations for IIT JAM have been closed for IIT Patna MSc admissions at this point. The IIT JAM exam result is scheduled to be revealed on March 20th 2026.
Thus, candidates can expect the MSc admissions to begin shortly after the aforementioned date at IIT Patna.

The current BTech seat intake at IIT Patna has not been revealed yet. Last year, the highest number of seats offered for a BTech course at IIT Patna was for the BTech in CSE course.
The aforementioned course offered a seat intake of 83 seats. This course was closely matched by the BTech in Mechanical Engineering course with a seat intake of 82 seats in the same year.

No, the JEE Mains dates for the IIT Patna BTech admissions are yet to be revealed for the second session. However, the exam dates for the second session JEE Mains have been revealed. The exam will be conducted from April 2nd - 9th 2026. The registrations will likely begin from end of January and remain open until the end of February.

The 2026 JEE Mains deadline for IIT Patna BTech admissions was scheduled on November 27th 2025. The JEE Mains is conducted twice in one academic year. For the second session, the JEE Mains deadline has not been revealed yet.
Candidates can expect the IIT Patna BTech deadline to be scheduled in the month of March. The JEE Mains registerations are expected to begin soon.

The tuition fees for international BTech students at IIT Patna is INR 32 Lacs for standard BTech courses. Integrated BTech courses with a duration of 5 years charge a tuition fees of INR 40 Lacs from each student.
This tuition fees is charged on per semester basis with each instalment costing INR 3 lakh. Aside from the tuition fees, several other fee components also have different charges when compared with domestic students.

Thie BTech tuition fees at IIT Patna is charged on per semester basis. Each instalment for the BTech tuition fee costs INR 1 lakh.

For the General AI quota, the IIT Mandi CSE cutoff for 2025 ranged between 3087 and 3123. For IIT Patna, the cutoff range was between 3215 and 3377. Similarly, for IIT Ropar, the cutoff ranged from 2357 to 2512. Therefore, considering these ranges, the IIT Mandi cutoff for CSE was comparatively more competitive for admission among engineering aspirants compared to IIT Patna, while it was less competitive than IIT Ropar, which had a more stringent cutoff for CSE admission.
