Dear sakshi, many students prepare for different entrance exams along with their studies. but sometimes it so happens that you are not able to give your best in any of them. having said that, a plan B in life always helps.
so while you are preparing for JEE, you can give a SAT(math/verbal)/TOEFL(English) for pursuing studies in USA.
Somehow, you will find these exams to be less tough than a JEE exam.

Udit I feel dropping an year is not a good idea. What if you don't get good marks or even this much of marks next year. Better would be go for admission this year only. If you are not able to get admission in a good govt.institute with these marks, these marks can get you good private universities.
These days even private universities are imparting quality education to the students around the world. They offer you admission on JEE scores/ tests conducted by them/ your marks in 12th. Some of these also offer good scholarships based on any one of the above mentioned admission criteria.
Good luck.

Ankit it would be preferable to go for regular schooling if your skill of learning furndamentals is not very good. However, if you are good academically then you may begin preparing for JEE right away.
