yes, but if you have studied in coaching institutes for two years or you have solved jee books still can't clear jee mains then do not drop a year, many options are there, try wbjee, jcece etc.
BUT if not solved any jee books or not prepared for jee yet, you should first prepare for it then only you will know your capacity. it will also help for future plans which branch to choose. you will go to a college where other students have read jee books so you will have tough competition.

Don't panic! If I assume you are in +1,then you have ample time. don't worry. Start from the basics of the subject and make yourself strong. Follow HC Verma or DC Pandey and make sure you solve maximum of the problems atleast from HCVerma. As I said you must make your basics strong coz when you go to +2 there is a more chance of forgetting the concepts. So "FOLLOW THOSE BOOKS - SOLVE PROBLEMS - REVISE BEFORE +2 DURING HOLIDAYS ONCE ". Moreover make yourself more stronger in Maths & Chemistry.

Hi Arpitha,
Yes ofcourse you can crack any competative exam including IIT. I will not say that its a easy job but yes any one can do with dedication and intelligence.
To open your mind about the board percentage relationship with passing entrance exam, I will give you a simple explanation. In 10th board you write exam on what you have learned by completing your syllabus and prescribed book.
But in entrance exam, its is not only the syllabus you have to cover but also you should know how to implement concepts in the real situation. IIT JEE neither ask you defination nor expects you to know everything about the subject. They just want you
